A total of 32 people narrowly escaped injury during multiple collisions involving nine vehicles along the Danco area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday. This information was provided in a traffic update by the Commandant of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Seni Ogunyemi.
According to the report, the accident was caused by excessive speeding and a loss of control by one of the drivers, resulting in a series of collisions with other vehicles. Ogunyemi explained that a Scania truck loaded with perishable items lost control due to speeding, leading to its overturning on the expressway and obstructing part of the highway.
A driver who was not exercising caution then collided with the fallen truck from behind, causing further crashes with other vehicles. Ogunyemi confirmed that 32 individuals were involved in the accident, comprising 20 adult males and 12 adult females.
The vehicles involved included: a Ford jeep (plate number FP), a Nissan jeep (GGE 440XP), a Sienna (plate number LA), a Toyota Highlander (WDE plate number 3), and a Mazda bus (plate number XB). Other vehicles included a Toyota bus (plate number FK), a Sinotruck (JBD 51 XB), a Scania truck (T. [number 1] LA), and a Toyota Camry (plate number BL).
Ogunyemi emphasized that there were no injuries or fatalities from the collision, although traffic was disrupted along the route.
