Ogun State House of Assembly says the 2025 budget defence by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government would provide an opportunity for thorough evaluation, transparency and accountability in the allocation and utilisation of public funds to create value for government’s resources.<\/p>\n
The Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi stated this today in his opening remarks during the commencement of the 2025 budget defence held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.<\/p>\n
Lamidi noted that the exercise was a significant event in the governance process; emphasising that the focus of the exercise was not merely on figures but on the impact of the proposed programmess and projects of MDAs on the people of the State.<\/p>\n
\u201d We are here to ensure that the resources allocated translate into meaningful, measurable, and sustainable benefits for our citizens.<\/p>\n
I encourage the Ministry\u2019s representatives to provide clear, detailed, and factual insights into their proposed budget, highlight the progress made in the past year, and articulate plans for the year ahead,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lamidi explained that the Assembly remained committed to supporting initiatives that aligned with collective goal of enhancing the quality of life for the people.<\/p>\n
He assured that the exercise would be conducted with utmost fairness, professionalism and dedication to the principles of good governance.<\/p>\n
\u201d Today, we begin this exercise with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, a key institution in advancing the welfare, empowerment and protection of the vulnerable segments of our population.<\/p>\n
This ministry plays a critical role in fostering inclusive growth and ensuring that no one is left behind in our shared vision for Ogun State”, he remarked.<\/p>\n
The Committee Chairman also stressed the need for all Commissioners and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to be physically present at the budget defence of their Agencies for them to be in tune with the vision and mission of the appropriation bill.<\/p>\n
Taking turn to defend the budget of Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry,Hon. Adijat Adeleye, said that N1.050bn had been earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N468.4m was earmarked for capital expenditure.<\/p>\n
She explained that the total expenditure for the next fiscal year stood at N1.5bn; assuring that the ministry would continue to invest in women, men, young and old in a gender responsive manner through participatory approaches for sustainable development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
