The University of Ibadan celebrated the achievement of 418 First Class graduates from its 15 faculties, distance learning centers, and affiliated institutes during its 2024 convocation ceremonies. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kayode Adebowale announced this on the opening day of the event in Ibadan on Wednesday.
In his address, Adebowale encouraged the 6,664 graduating students to make positive contributions to society by leveraging their talents, passions, and unique perspectives. He praised the graduates for their resilience, creativity, and perseverance, which enabled them to develop the skills, knowledge, and values necessary for success.
Despite facing numerous challenges, Adebowale emphasized that the institution continues to produce graduates who are competitive on a global scale. He specifically highlighted funding difficulties and inconsistent educational policies as significant obstacles to the university’s ability to achieve its vision and mission.
