Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale of Ijebuland, has died at the age of 91. His passing occurred on Sunday, shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a close friend.
Having ascended the throne in 1960, Oba Adetona was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers and a respected figure among Yoruba monarchs. Governor Dapo Abiodun confirmed his demise, noting it coincided with the death of Buhari in London.
