Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin is facing a rights violation lawsuit filed by social media entrepreneur Jael Kofoworola Akanji, known as Alabike, in the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Akanji is seeking enforcement of her fundamental human rights and demands damages of N500 million naira from Anjorin for inhumane treatment, along with an additional 5 million naira from both Anjorin and the second respondent, Sunday Spirit White.
Anjorin had previously accused Akanji of defamation in a Lagos magistrate’s court. In a counter-suit, Akanji, represented by lawyer Yakubu Eleto, argues that the police illegally invaded her home without cause or court order and seeks a declaration that the harassment she faced was unconstitutional.
Her requests include:
1. Enforcement of her rights to liberty, dignity, and freedom of expression.
2. A perpetual injunction against further harassment by the respondents.
3. A public apology from Anjorin and compensation of N500 million naira for the treatment inflicted on her.
Eleto claims that Anjorin, alongside the Nigeria Police, arranged Akanji’s unlawful arrest on July 23, 2025, despite advice that the issue should be resolved privately. The case is adjourned to August 21, 2025.
