The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1, as an ambassador for airport security protocols following an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, stated that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will reduce KWAM 1’s flight ban to one month and work with him to promote awareness of acceptable airport conduct. The NCAA will also retract its criminal complaints against him.
This decision comes after KWAM 1 publicly expressed remorse for the August 5 incident, in which he allegedly obstructed a ValueJet aircraft’s movement by carrying a prohibited flask and walking onto the tarmac. The NCAA had initially placed him on a six-month no-fly list due to safety violations. Keyamo emphasized the government’s commitment to enforcing aviation safety regulations.
