In celebration of his first 100 days as Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Professor Kehinde Dahud Shangodoyin has outlined his achievements and expressed gratitude to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for the opportunity to serve. After a cabinet reshuffle on May 5, 2025, Shangodoyin transitioned from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to his current role.

He stated, “Our accomplishments reflect our commitment to improving energy access and developing infrastructure in line with Governor Makinde’s vision for a sustainable energy future in Oyo State.”

Notably, his ministry has completed high-mast floodlight installations at Onipepeye and Circular Road Bridges. Bridge 1 features 18 high-mast floodlights with a 90 kW solar farm and a diesel generator, while Bridge 6 has 19 floodlights powered by a 100 kW solar farm. Additionally, six floodlights at the Onipepeye Interchange are backed by a solar farm and a temporary generator.

Shangodoyin also reported the completion of 3 km of solar-powered street lighting, increasing total coverage to 45 km. A comprehensive Operations and Maintenance framework is being finalized to ensure the reliability of these installations.

He further noted that the Ministry has developed a draft of the Oyo State Electricity Bill, which will soon undergo stakeholder consultation, aiming for an inclusive and effective electricity market.

Shangodoyin concluded, “These milestones demonstrate our commitment to a resilient energy ecosystem in Oyo State. We thank Governor Seyi Makinde, our development partners, and the people of Oyo State for their support.”
