Oyo Government Distributes Over 5 Million Mosquito Nets

The Oyo State Government is distributing over five million insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) across all 33 local government areas to combat malaria.

At the launch at the Idi-Ogungun Primary Health Care Centre in Ibadan, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, highlighted the commitment to protect vulnerable groups, especially pregnant women and children under five.

She cautioned residents against misusing the nets for purposes like fishing or gardening, warning that hoarding or selling them is illegal. Dr. Ajetunmobi urged families to use the nets nightly to prevent illness and save lives.

The distribution will run from August 1 to 7, 2025, through fixed delivery sites with electronic tracking to ensure transparency and complete coverage.
