
Nigeria’s D’Tigress triumphed over a determined Senegal team, winning 75-68 in a fiercely contested match to secure a spot in the final of the 2025 Afrobasket on Saturday. The game took place at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
With this victory, Nigeria, along with three other African teams that reached the semifinals, has qualified for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifying tournaments scheduled for March.
Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Sudan will compete among 24 national teams in four separate FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 qualifying tournaments. Additionally, Brazil, Argentina, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Colombia will represent the Americas in these World Cup qualifiers.
