Former Ogun PDP Chairman, Ogundele PhD, Hon. Akinlade, others dump party for APC

 

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the last general election in Ogun State , Adekunle Akinlade, former state chairman of the party, Dr Sikirullahi Ogundele have defected to All Progressives Congress, APC.

Also are Deputy Minority leader of the State House of Assembly, Lukman Atobatele, former Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Idowu Olowofuja; former ALGON Chairman, Dr Mojeed Ekelojumati and former of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Rotimi Rahman, aka Arugbo.

They were received by Governor Dapo Abiodun and the executives of APC at a reception organised to formally welcome them in Abeokuta, the State capital.

Abiodun in remark, described the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as an empty shell nationwide and a party of the Internally Displaced Persons.

 

He said that “every responsible member of PDP in Ogun State” has left the party.

The governor also taunted members of the main opposition party as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

He said the giant strides of President Bola Tinubu-led government have continued to attract opposition figures into the APC including serving governors.

Ogundele stated that PDP has never brought anything good to his table, even as former Chairman, adding that instead of PDP getting people into the party, many members are defecting to APC and other parties.

Akinlade, said, they are not decamping rather coming back home, saying Governor Abiodun has been treating them with dignity.

He said “All I can say is thank you to our leaders, with the dignity they have receive us into their party, to a man who treat us with dignity, I say thank you, Sir.

“Today, I want to tell you all that we are not decamping, but we are coming back home. You see, the politics we are involved in today, we need to let you know that our Governor has been treating us with dignity”.

He said “I want to say thank you to our wonderful Governor and for this reason, I want to inform you that this is the reason we are coming back home and not decamping, all our movements have been supported by our Governor, so we say thank you, Sir. For this reason also, we beseech our Governor to take us all as children in the party, Thank you, Sir”
