Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has been expelled from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and banned from membership for 30 years.
The SDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) stated that this decision aligns with the party’s constitution and relevant Nigerian laws, which grant political parties the right to determine their membership.
Party spokesman Araba Rufus Aiyenigba warned members against associating with El-Rufai, stating he is prohibited from participating in any SDP activities for 30 years, effective immediately.
El-Rufai joined the SDP after leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) and remains a key member of the opposition coalition, which has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 elections.
