Why I Stopped Mimicking Bishop David Oyedepo — Son of the Prophet

Comedian White Olasunkanmi Barry, known as Son of the Prophet, has explained why he stopped impersonating Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church.

In an interview on the Teju Babyface Show, Barry revealed that he received hurtful messages from Nigerians, which led him to reconsider his actions. He stated, “Many people claimed I was bringing curses upon myself and questioned if Bishop Oyedepo approved my mimicry. Such messages made me feel down.”

Barry acknowledged that while some suggested he should create his own path, he struggled with the thought of whether mimicking was part of his calling. He holds Bishop Oyedepo in high esteem and emphasized that his decision to quit stemmed from self-reflection and inner conflict, not disrespect.

He also clarified that the mimicry did not earn him the financial rewards many assumed, sharing that he only made a total of six hundred thousand naira during that time. Public perceptions of his success were often misleading.
