The Ogun State Police Command has made significant progress in enhancing public safety through the successful arrest of a wanted serial kidnapper and the recovery of weapons linked to past operations.
Thanks to the diligent efforts of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Clement Elijah was apprehended after being on the run since 2024 for his involvement in a high-profile kidnapping case in Ajelanwa village, Ogun State. At the time of his arrest, two of his accomplices were also taken into custody.
Elijah’s recent arrival in the Ibiade community on June 13, 2025, was part of a plan to abduct a prominent figure in Ago Village, Abigi. Fortunately, this plot was thwarted through the effective collaboration between the police and the alert residents of the area.
During a proactive clearance operation on June 16, 2025, police apprehended the gang’s armorer, Posi Friday, who was found with a pump-action rifle, a locally fabricated pistol, and eight live cartridges concealed within a boom speaker. This operation highlights the importance of vigilance and community cooperation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, praised the proactive initiatives of the Ibiade and Abigi communities. He expressed gratitude for their ongoing communication and support, which played a vital role in resolving this case successfully.
In a separate initiative, operatives from the Anti-Cultism Team arrested fourteen suspected cultists from two rival groups, who were allegedly planning to carry out attacks related to their rivalry on June 16, 2025. The suspects were apprehended in the Ijagun, Ogbo, and Ijele areas of Imaweje, Ijebu Ode, during their gathering to celebrate the conclusion of their institution’s examinations.
