Gospel singer Bolaji Olarewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, has sadly passed away at the age of 50 after a brief illness.

 

The family confirmed his passing in a statement released on Saturday, stating that Bolaji died on Easter Saturday, April 19, 2025. The statement reads, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B.’ He was a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in the church community, being an ordained pastor in the RCCG. He was also a giant in the music industry and our local community. Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday after a brief illness.”

His family expressed that “his departure leaves a void in our hearts that cannot be filled.” They highlighted that Bolaji’s life was a testament to his passion for music, unwavering faith, and dedication to uplifting those around him. “His legacy is not only in the melodies he created but also in the lives he touched and the immeasurable joy he spread.”

The family finds solace in knowing that while he may be absent from their lives, he is present with the Lord. They requested privacy as they mourn and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received, asking for continued prayers during this difficult time.

Details regarding the funeral arrangements will be shared in due course as they gather together to celebrate Bolaji’s remarkable life and legacy.
