Renowned Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has boldly shared his views on the topic of polygamy, sparking an intriguing conversation. During a recent episode of “Curiosity Made Me Ask,” he addressed the question of the many women who admire him.
RMD passionately argued that restricting oneself to a single marriage is fundamentally unfair. He referenced the example of his father, who had five wives, as a testament to the viability of polygamous relationships. When host Bae U Barbie inquired, “You are married to only one woman. Do you think that is fair? Do you know how many women want you?” RMD responded thoughtfully: “I may not know, but I believe it is unfair to be married to just one woman. My father had five wives.”
Currently, RMD shares his life with television personality Jumobi Adegbesan, having remarried after the tragic loss of his first wife, talk show host May Ellen “MEE” Mofe-Damijo, in 1996. His perspective invites us to reconsider the traditional views on marriage and encourages an open dialogue about its diverse forms.
