The Ibadan Basketball Championship is poised for significant growth, according to former basketball player, sports broadcaster, and journalist, Mayorkun Owoseni.
Owoseni, who also officiates in the senior national leagues with Basketball England, made this promise after the conclusion of the championship, which saw Hoop Dreams Basketball Club defeat Rising Star 48-41 to claim the title for the second consecutive year.
“The Ibadan Basketball Championship will get bigger and bigger,” Owoseni assured. “We are devoting a lot into it, and that’s a promise to the people of Ibadan and basketball lovers in the state. We have a special package in store for subsequent editions.”
Owoseni emphasized that the primary goal of the championship is to revive the game and give back to the community that has supported basketball enthusiasts.
“Our aim is to bring back the game and give back to the same community that has given us something to hold on to,” he explained.
With Owoseni’s vision and commitment, the Ibadan Basketball Championship is expected to continue growing and providing a platform for basketball talent in the region.
