The Alagbara of Agbara kingdom, Awori land, HM Oba Barr (Dr) Lukman Agunbiade, has added another feather to his cap with the conferment of a Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa) degree by British American University, US.
The conferment, which was held at the University of Lagos on Saturday, November 23rd 2024, was witnessed by great academics from within and outside the country. The tradition of the awarding university was spelled out while adorning Oba Agunbiade with the garb of honor.
The school authority underscores it is renowned with a history of awarding honorary degrees of this kind only to individuals who have made outstanding contributions both in their field of expertise and society’s development.
In this case, there is no denying the fact that the decision to honor the Havard-trained Oba Agunbiade with a L.Ld. Doctor of Law is apt, exemplifying and celebrating his accomplishments as a legal collosus with rewarding years of practice and his continued public service as a traditional ruler of one of Nigeria’s horns of industrialization.
It’s worth noting that Oba Lukman Agunbiade, who is secretary and legal adviser of the Ogun State Awori Obas Forum, earned two degrees in law, is a chartered accountant, and is equally a Harvard university-trained scholar.
His impressive academic profile and voracious and relentless appetite for knowledge despite his royal stature and affluence not only serve as a source of motivation for many, especially his subjects, but have earned him a reputation as a shining example of excellence in the traditional institution sector.
