Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed that her activism in seeking justice for the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has attracted negative criticism and serious allegations against her.
Speaking recently on the ‘Glass House’ with AY, Ojo shared that some people have accused her of being involved in Mohbad’s death. She also mentioned that she faced accusations of using his death for personal gain.
Contrary to these allegations, Ojo expressed that her genuine intention was to advocate for justice for the late music star. She stated, “They were even insinuating that maybe I killed Mohbad. I wasn’t around when he died, and I didn’t know him that well. My encounter with him was during the One Africa music fest. For the few days we spent together, I saw that he was a cool person who had his own struggles and was focused on his music.”
She questioned the logic behind the accusations, saying, “If I killed him, then why was I fighting for his body to be exhumed for an autopsy? There was a time when people claimed I was being paid for my activism related to Mohbad’s case. They even suggested that I was seeking a political position or trying to gain fame through this tragedy. Many things have been said about me, but I am not bothered because that is not true. All I did was seek justice for the late singer.”
